The Drop 028

Aug 25, 2012

Welcome back.  This week I’ve got everything from chill to dubstep lined up for your eager ears.

Benny Benassi is back! Well, he’s always been around and shtuff you know, but I mean he’s got a wicked remix track comin out September 2nd through Island Records. It’s a remix of Bob and The Wailers’ Jammin. Oooooh YeeH!! Haha Cant wait to hear the full track. Check it out below!

Oh my worrrrd! This next track is gonna knock youre frickin’ socks off. Yes, it’s that good! You wont catch me putting much dubstep up here, but this one has definitely made the cut. I know Guetta’s Titanium quickly made it to the radio and soon after became one of those songs you needed to change the channel for but Nemo and MisterBlack, you killed this remix! Keep it up boys!

Up next is a track by Nicholas Jaar. He was raised for the most part in South America and you can really hear it in his sounds. Everything about this track screams “organic”. I love it! Check out his SoundCloud for more like this.

When I’m planning a live set I love to encorporate songs that people both know and don’t know. You need to show them what they’ve never heard before but also come back from time to time to something familiar to keep their attention. This true at least if you are playing for a more top-40 crowd anyways. Regardless, this is one that everyone can sign along to. Good ol’ Stevie lol

Shut the front door, this next one is a bangerrrrr! As if Skrillex’s Right In wasn’t tight enough, DallasK took it and spun it around into somethin fresh n’ heavy. Love it! Check it below. My favorite is the second drop. I love the breaks within the beat. Makes you wanna pop, lock n drop it!… in the least ghetto way possible haha

As I have said before, Diplo has simply been killing it and not just within a single genre. He’s found his way into Dancehall, Reggae, Hip-Hop, Dubstep, Moombahton and more. His style is unlike anyone I have heard before. This fall he will be releasing his follow up album to Guns Don’t Kill People – Lazers Do which was done in collaboration with Switch (the other half of Major Lazer). November 6th is the scheduled release date, which is set to include collaborations with Flux Pavillion, Tyga, Wyclf Jean and more. Below are two videos of singles that are set to be included in the new album. Both are AwEsOOOOme!!!

Despite the fact that this video is filled with strippers it is very tasteful. Great video editing and very creative!

This last track as got some dirty, dirty electro synths mixed with some slow tempo snare drums and an entrancing vocal bit. This is that infusion of genres that I just love.

I hope everyone’s weekends were awesome! Check back next Sunday for more tunes.
