Yo yo brothers and sisters! I trust everyone’s summer is peachy keen so far! I’ve been crazy busy as of lately! I hope that you guys are keeping busy! Have any of you been lucky enough to have Full Flex stop near you? Tell us your stories and be sure to check out our review and pictures on the homepage! As I’m writing this, we in Winnipeg, get to enjoy some delicious bass tomorrow, when Full Flex makes a stop in our city! Since I’ve been busier lately than usual, this edition of The Breakdown is definitely smaller than you’ll be used to, but it’s still full of heaters.
Today, we’ve got some more content from a new addition to the Kannibalen Records crew… Thomas Kelle and Martin Juha are about to put out a massive electro EP. We’ve also got a couple tasty breaks tunes from a fellow Winnipegger, M.E.L.T.
==============================================================================
Up first, we’ve got Thomas Kelle and Martin Juha, the newest addition to the Kannibalen crew. The DJ/producer duo hail from Hungary. I normally don’t feature artists that aren’t Canadian, but they’re on a Canadian label – and these beats thump so hard! Their Keep Pushin’ On EP is set to release on July 24 and it’ll definitely make an impression on electro fans everywhere. When I asked for a bit of a bio on these two, I was given a short, but sweet quote. “Well, we are a duo from Hungary, producing since.. hm, around 3-4 years. Mainly we were into trance, we had a few releases at some big labels, wherewe get the chance get supports from armin v buuren, tiesto, sander van doorn and artists like that.” These two are not much older than I am and already have so many scattered releases spanning a wide variety of genres spanning drum n’ bass, trance, psy, house and the list goes on! Now with their focus set on the electro market, they’re poised to dominate the competition. They go by Thomas Kelle and Martin Juha, Kelle & Juha or just by their own names!
Keep Pushin’ On EP is 4 tracks long and each one is just as good as the last. Below we’ve got the preview mix that they’ve put together so let’s discuss some beats and have a listen.
The first track in the mix, the title track Keep Pushin’ On is easily my favorite tune on the EP with it’s solid four to the floor beat accompanied by a flurry of electro sounds. We’ve got a rising wobbly synth, bit of modern talking, some synth bubbling… you name it, they’ve got it! Tied together nicely by that vocal sample, which demands you get amped.
Up next we’ve got Queen Kong which definitely doesn’t skimp on the heavyness. A deep pounding synth paired by a strong kick are quickly met by dutch-infused bleeps making for some high energy.
Pamela is a funky ass electro tune. Deep, rising synths paired with a funky top line give this one a super playful feel!
Lastly, Magic Shrooms finishes up the preview mix with some next level energy. A long spacey build leads you into high pitched laser heaven. They definitely left me wanting more.
Check out the preview mix below and then mark your calendars for July 24! This is one EP that you won’t want to miss.

Up next, a heck of a dude from my hometown of Winnipeg, M.E.L.T.
M.E.L.T‘s unique sound is a combination of crisp drums, melodic sparking leads and up front synths that will grind, crunch, growl and tickle the pallet of even the most refined dance music connoisseurs.
His trademark sound has earned him a spot on True Spin Recordings, (Vancouver, BC), Monkey Dub Recordings (Montreal, QC) and the mighty Breakz R Boss Recordings (Calgary, AB). Breakz R Boss Recordings was nominated for best new label at Breakspoll 2012 and host to some of the top broken beat producers from around the globe.
With a brand new single titled Dirty Sex forthcoming on Breakz R Boss Recordings and remix duties for Wax Hands, Alan Flava and TYLER (via True Spin Recordings), M.E.L.T is quickly becoming a staple in the flourishing EDM community that is North America.
Below I’ve got the two most recent productions from M.E.L.T and if these don’t have you bouncing, I’m not sure what will!
Forthcoming to Breakz R Boss… Dirty Sex, opens with a long leading synth line and crisp as fuck drums. This one gives me a great feeling right from the get go. The break hits and we get our first taste of the sexy vocals all glitched up. The drop is comprised of upbeat drum patterns, driving synths and a touch of modern talking. He’s even got the “Come on!” vocal sample that Tiesto made famous.
Forthcoming to Truespin… M.E.L.T was given the remix duties for Wax Hand’s Red and this is another smash hit right outta the park. Drawing on deep emotions right from the beginning again, I’m quickly noticing how many different directions M.E.L.T can take you with his productions. Initially, we’ve got a bit more a simplistic drop comprised of a laidback drum pattern and deep growling synths, but we’re quickly treated to a driving bass line and more playful vocal sampling. He’s got a little bassy riff in there which gives it an added funky feel. Truly fantastic work!
