One of Germany’s finest exports Tocadisco makes his much awaited return to Toolroom Records with the thumping double header The Groove/The Clamp. Tocadisco celebrates over 15 years of international DJ stardom and globetrotting. After more than 150 international remixes, three artist albums and 30 successful worldwide singles, his success continues to grow with every gig, every record spun and every high profile remix.
Based in Cologne, Tocadisco started his musical career in his early years, got into DJing with the age of 16 and became professional by the year 2000. Without a classic musical education, he taught himself how to play several instruments and got into producing. In 2004, Tocadisco released his first single Nobody likes the records that I play on the impressive Superstar Records. The single went on to became a worldwide success helping to launch Tocadisco into stardom. This was confirmed when he was voted by the readers of Raveline as one of the best newcomers of 2004.
Toolroom Records sets the standard as one of the most respected dance labels in the world. Arriving in 2003 with a focus on fresh, world-class talent and cutting-edge music, they are now into their eighth year with several sub-labels, a renowned Beatport-sponsored club night, tour package & DJ-led compilation brand entitled ‘Toolroom Knights’ and an eight member full-time team working hard to make the Toolroom name synonymous with the best of the best in this industry!
Spearheaded by the formidable musical talent of head honcho Mark Knight, the label has had countless dancefloor, underground and mainstream hits from some of the biggest and most exciting names in modern day dance. Huge tracks include Mark Knight & Funkagenda’s Man With Red Face, Spoon, Harris and Obernik’s Baditude and Fedde Le Grand’s Just Trippin, alongside Dave Spoon’s enormous At Night and Dubfire’s Miami WMC ’07 smash Roadkill.
First up, The Groove does exactly what it says, providing a pumping groove-laced track with smatterings of slap bass and those infamous guitar licks (a re-sampling of Groove is in the heart by Dee-lite). The key is the simplicity and subtlety in which they’re used. Not overpowering or repetitive, but just right to spark the listeners interest and catch their attention to the original well-known hook from back in the day. Those into Format: B, Stefano Noferini & Alex Kenji will no doubt be giving it regular rotation.
The Clamp cranks up the tempo in customary Tocadisco fashion. Here, he delivers punchy, driving drums dropping into a ruthless top line melody which relentlessly evolves into a climactic breakdown. A techy/progressive cut that will shudder the foundations of the world’s finest dance floors.
With heavy support from Mark Knight on promo, this is another stunning Tocadisco release that showcases his renown ability to produce club bombs to devastating effect. This will be another sure-fire hit for the Toolroom Records crew and will no-doubt, be another chart topper in the next few months.
It will be impossible to over look this gem over the coming months as it will be being played by one and all. A must purchase!
