Yoyo beat geeks, this is a short and sweet rundown of my top 5 tracks that have been merking the ipod this week, featuring some tech house, electro house, and big progressive tracks. Usually we stick to international artists in this column, but there are some Canadian guys with a few gems I need to share with y’all.
Peep, download, like, SHARE!
# 5 - Autoerotique – Bring that Beat Back (Tiesto edit)
Canadian boys Autoerotique show no signs of slowing down, here’s an electro house release on Provoke last month with a Tiesto rework.
Here’s a dope video from Provoke‘s LOUD ALL NIGHT brand, featuring the Autoerotique guys, Northend, Chris Lake, and Michael Woods. Looks like you don’t want to miss the next Provoke party.
# 4 – Simon Doty – Ladders (Jerome Robins remix)
A couple young Canadian producers who are set to explode on the international scene are Calgary based Simon Doty, and Toronto based Jerome Robins. Simon put together an amazing follow up to his debut EP on Definitive, called Tribalation with this bouncy tech house groove called Ladders. Check the original and the Jerome Robins remix below.
#3 – Project 46 – Reasons ft. Andrew Allen
This new one off Monstercat Media is currently sitting at #2 in the Beatport Top 100, let’s all support and push this big room progressive banger in front of Tiesto’s number 1 remix of Gotye. Look for big things coming up from the Monstercat label, a pair of Canadian guys based in Waterloo who are truly living & breathing dance music and helping push Canadian talent into the international spotlight. Keep up the great work boys!!
UPDATE – This track claimed the number one spot on the beatport overall Top 10 one day after this article was published.
A MASSIVE congratulations goes to the hard working guys from Project 46 and Monstercat Media. Very well deserved guys!
# 2 – Sander van Doorn ft. Mayaeni – Nothing Inside
The hype surrounding Sander’s upcoming release is incredible. After showcasing this track in Miami during WMC and Ultra, the response has been unbelievable for dutch trance-turned-progressive producer Sander van Doorn. Though this track isn’t officially released until May 7th on Doorn Records, DJs across the world are eagerly waiting to get a copy and blow it up on the dance floor. Mayaeni’s melodic and captivating vocals over Sander’s amazing cradle and build up show a new side to his productions that I hope to see more of in the near future. Take a listen to this progressive gem, and make sure to pick up a copy when it drops on May 7th. Here’s a bootleg copy and a video with Sander talking about producing the track. Enjoy!
# 1 - Nari & Milani – Atom
We’ve arrived at number one.. and this is probably no surprise if you’ve been out dancing at a good club recently. This track off Steve Angellos Size Records was released on April 9th, and has made it’s way into 4 or 5 live sets I’ve seen in the past month including Steve Angello at Bal en Blanc and Axwell at The Guvernment.. the drop is pure fire, after a long and captivating build that really pumps up the energy, this one is a B A N G E R. Pardon the live version of SHM dropping this fire, make sure to buy your copy on beatport. Don’t forget to share the love, like this post and send it to twitter and facebook using the buttons below.
See you next Sunday! Don’t forget to send your review requests to globalmusic@djmag.ca for international artists, and hola at Mike for music released by Canadian artists or on Canadian labels at thebreakdown@djmag.ca.
