The Drop 011

April 22, 2012

Wassup, wassup!? Ive got a tasty EDM-salad share with all of you. A little electro, a little dub and to finish off, a little bit of some much needed Dutch! I hope you brought an empty stomach to the table because I’ve got a lot to dish out!

To start off I wanna talk about some buddies of mine back home in TO. They go by the name Gooffee! No, not the guys from Disney’s Goof Troop. Although I still love that show lol. I’m talking about Toronto’s one and only Gooffee, the duo who started out playing in bands and playing guitars to moving their talents into the EDM scene with some seriously sick original remixes. One of their latest productions is a sweet electro mix of Metallica’s classic, Enter Sandman. Filip Janjos and Kolter Marles did a wicked job on this one. Check out one of their many other remixes on their SoundCloud page. Most if not all are available for FREE DOWNLOAD. Share with your friends!

The Kid and Korova recently released their latest edition to the Red Panda Chronicles. I first heard wind of the Red Panda Chronicles when I found the track Gawdzilla by The Kid. Dope track! The first EP was more hip-hop based and with the newest EP they decided to go more to the dance side of things. My favorites thus far from this EP are Denzel Washington (Pretty Boy Anthem) and Puma. With Denzel Washington you can definitely hear the hip-hop influence and with Puma, well … It’s just sick. Makes you wanna pump yo’ fist!

This next track I am super excited about. It was posted a mere six days ago and already has 387,449 plays! Damian Marley collaborated with Skrillex to make this nasty-reggae-dubstep-GOOOOOOOLD. This seems to be sort of in sequel to Skrillex’s collaboration with the remaining members of The Doors on the track Breakin’ a Sweat. Can’t wait to see who Skrillex teams up with next. Whoever it is, its gonna be hard to top this one!

Here’s that track, Breakin’ a Sweat. Notice in the beginning of the video where he is staying in the Kyoto Hotel and he’s talkin about how he makes a lot of his music on the road … One of the track’s from Skrillex’s latest EP Bangarang is called Kyoto. Wonder if there is some connection? Hmm …

While were talking about Skrillex, Here’s another team effort with 12th Planet and Kill The Noise. This one’s heavy. Turn up the bass. If you don’t have sub or good bass then just don’t bother. Its nothing without it! – This track was featured in the video of Skrillex at UMF in The Drop 010.

Some songs just never get old. Take for instance Nicky Romero’s Flash. I have heard many a remix of this song. This one that I just found by Chuckie is BOMB! It preserves much of the original song and adds that dirty-dutch sound we all know Chuckie is famous for!

That’s all for this week folks. I hope I managed to at least mildy surpress your EDM appetite for the week! Catch me next Sunday, same time, same place.
