The Breakdown 013

March 15, 2012

Lucky number 13! Welcome back! I hope everyone is having a great week and I’m sure you’re all looking forward to the weekend … I definitely am!

Today, I’m bringing you some music courtesy of my inbox. I love having the opportunity to listen to a bunch of new music everyday. If you’ve submitted some music, but haven’t had a reply, I sincerely apologize! We all get busy! I hope you guys can understand! Don’t be discouraged!  Today’s reader submission comes from Montreal record label, Kannibalen Records, and I’ve gotta say … I haven’t been this excited about an EP in quite a while.

To begin, let me introduce to you … Dabin! Dabin Lee has been involved in music his entire life … playing guitar, drums and piano! The 19 year-old wonderkid, from Toronto, Ont., only began producing EDM a short 12 months ago – and if I hadn’t been told that personally, I probably wouldn’t believe you. His first release, entitled We Are The Night, hit Beatport during late December of last year. We Are The Night was a massive internet hit bringing in over 60,000 plays via Dubstep.net, Vital FM and other streaming media sources. Lasting only three minutes and 46 seconds, Dabin doesn’t waste any time getting right into it! Clever, and rather beautiful, vocal sampling leads you into a flurry of bass and lazer synths! There is never a dull moment during this tune. Personally, I get the feeling of Zomboy, Nero and Knife Party all on the same track together. Have a listen to it below and head to Beatport and grab this massive tune.

The Electropolitics EP is Dabin‘s debut EP release! Out this coming Tuesday, March 20 on Kannibalen Records. The title track, Electropolotics, is a sure-fire hit for any electro house fan. It’s got that feel-good vibe to it with uplifting synths and that continuous build-up feel is guaranteed to make any dance floor erupt! Wildfire and Welcome to the Future are heavy dubstep cuts guaranteed to get any Basshead drooling. Wildfire takes listeners on a punishing ride through layers of haunting chopped up vocals and aggressive basslines, while Welcome to the Future clearly showcases Dabin‘s intricate drum skills.

The EP also features three remixes of the title track by fellow Kannibalen producers Black Tiger Sex Machine, Apashe and Dooze Jackers. Dooze Jackers go the Moombahton route, giving Electropolitics their trademark upbeat, tropical vibe. Apashe speeds up the tempo into dubstep territory and twists the song’s melody with an ominous growling bass. Finally, Black Tiger Sex Machine transform the track into an underground electro rave banger guaranteed to have the room moving! Have a listen to the EP promo mix below and grab the bonus free download from Dabin!
